Panda Bear and The Astronaut ...

PANDA BEAR Enlace Tomboy
paw tracks, 2011

Noah Lennox aka Panda Bear is one of the elementary particles of Animal Collective (in the company of Avey Tare, Geologist and Deakin), a group that in recent years has been changing the colors and shapes of indie-rock, shifting cloud and light splashing everywhere.
His solo project had already left Panda Bear marks on the snow from "Young Prayer" (2004) and especially with the illuminated "Person Pitch" (2007 album for Eskimo Dream and one of the most important of the decade), some of this delicious concoction flooded last two productions of Animal Collective, then come shine, travel and a well-deserved recognition.
When it was rumored last year on "Tomboy" many eyes up, speculation and immediate questions, what will Lennox after totem "Person Pitch"?. The step could be heaven or falling in a supine repetition, calmer now listening to these 11 pieces we can safely say that Panda Bear does not disappoint in "Tomboy", on the contrary it is another stunning album, yet separated enough from the sound of its predecessor, true to his adventurous spirit Lennox goes beyond that, leaving aside some ethereal motifs and percussion effective transition to a more savage musicality, concentration and perfect aquilibrio still hear the harmonies of the Beach Boys loved but now we hear from a platform suspended in some distant galaxy, with the pleasant voice of Noah's hard not to feel the breeze pop so well fit, but while singing the music caress us squirm between climbs, crosses and aftershocks, making the electronic sound becomes a body that breathes and design your own language, as in a dream vision, which dance warm vocals vast spaces, a note is dragged to transfigured, that's "Tomboy" transformation, a change of direction within a creation super sensory and unique.
Lennox has recorded the album in Lisbon last year and left him in the hands of none other than Sonic Boom for the mixing and production, it is obvious that the ex-Spacemen 3 has plenty to tell the direction and character explorative shows the board in total, the stellar wind and dust, the search outside the range of style, surfing the rough waves of an unknown island.
As not to appreciate the crackle of songs like "Slow Motion" where natural colors expand and similar ruidillos fall like snowflakes in the distance, in these decorations that embrace the core melodies of each track is where the more we feel the passage Sonic Boom, unity and communion in the spacecraft, the crew also smiles "Last Night At The Jetty" that has all the elements to become a classic, Panda Bear is about the divine, depth and delicacy, Enchantment submitting. We were stuck in "Drone" Lennox's voice like a flash in the mist and the hallucinogen mantra, making music Hang a star universe in motion and hitting the perception numb. And so we find in each piece a new look, alterations and atmospheres let you captive, the musician had to be carried away to be closer still to the district and purifying essential work that transports you straight to heaven, that's true infinity .

A marvel.

If you remember the 90s', the gloomy years of the post-dictatorship Chile, an odd time with little information, no internet, when local bands should seek their own destiny in the desolate landscape at that time from Punta Arenas (in the extreme south of Chile) showed a name, Acid Rain, poking a little between fanzines and cassette recordings copied mechanically protected knew his music at the beginning by the unknown label Harijan, of this have already spent over 15 years and continues Acid Rain their creative work and the rescue of an original voice, Hector Aguilar and Rafael Cheuquelaf are sailors defying the cold and the abandonment of the Patagonian fjords, owners of a particular sound that eventually joined the singing southern ancestral land to industrious structures of Cabaret Voltaire and Front 242 Geometric Splendor.
After various jobs that deepen the connection with Magellan atmospheres, their almost extinct indigenous, culture, rituals, history silenced, now meet again in the soundtrack for the documentary "Art and Shamanism Paleoindian ( "The Mysteries of Tierra del Fuego" Vol.1, by Carlos Vega) and recently published by the Jacobin Records netlabel, for download.
From the beginning we feel the immersion, "Karukinka" is a translation between sequences and pulse until a primary space, perhaps in the vastness of the Selk'nam once perceived environments and sounds like this, silence intervened by the noise of the species, Tierra del Fuego and the morning light along the strings in "Kreen" Desojo in the frame of electronic frequencies, a whisper that glides through the vegetation spectral arcane winds to start the trance, "Shaman" is a jolt leading to the ritual, dance that crosses the plain of times, Acid Rain interprets the echoes asleep and deftly transports us to that world away and foremost, sampling sticks, stones, feathers and beads of water make their way directly to the source, and all remain alive.

Mushy Heart

Faded mannequin, 2011

From the ruins of Rome, a dark and ghostly sounds like a flowers Figure architecturally constructed sacred nature and nightmare at the time. Valentina Fanigliulo of 26 years under the pseudonym of Mushy offers in his debut "Faded Heart" lo-fi ecosystem that introduces us to an enchanting world and spectral. Italian Women

Ascension JESU

caldo verde, 2011

Discuss Justin K. Aka Jesu Broadrick is the root face harsher noise disturbed, just say that in the late 80s' was part of one of the most pressing industrial monstrosities that have been heard, Godflesh, not to name all the projects that Broadrick has left his imprint malignant dense and often brings his vision of music, the desolation, a search of the primitive sound of the guitar and the drone whose last sump to Jesus a band seemingly more standardized, but in listening to records as "Ascension" is clear that this is simply a change However, the air is still polluted, what happens is that Jesus is containment, but not in the way of Codeine who kept all his anger in silence, Broadrick know all that spoils empty ceremonial fall storms without any consideration, hue is the slowness, the isolation of a voice that lies between bruises, noise and static, as in "Fools" this job opening track dark and ruthless, the knife plunges into the wound, "Birth Day" life lived with a sadness charged Broadrick's guitar never leaves the jungle and plays only conceals it, now in "Ascension" is an excellent company in the robust percussion Ted Parsons (ex-Swans, Godflesh, Foetus, etc.) giving more emphasis to the cloud forests that Jesus presents. A ship that moves but does not advance. An earthquake.
always skirting the precipice "Broken Home" , we do not know from where comes such aggression, noting the cover may find an answer, musicality is a cold, metal, evil, resentment taking shape in the extreme pallor.

unmarked grave.

On January 31 saw the light which, in my opinion, is going to be one of the albums and bands of the year. And it might be safe to say that since "Palace", the debut album from Chapel Club, has all the ballots to be marked as a copy of a copy of bands like Interpol and Editors. In any case, the energy and quality of his songs leave no room for discussion. High doses of magic and majesty of compositions as "The Shore" , "Blind" or "Fine Light" , these values \u200b\u200bare sufficient for small legion of fans of the London group.

Following the release of several singles throughout 2009 and 2010 as "Oh Maybe I" , "Five Trees" and "All the Eastern Girls" , which caused quite a stir in London's East End and in media such as XFM, BBC, NME, Chapel Club were destined to receive over as one of the best new British bands. His tour last fall in the NME Radar Tour and opening for Two Door Cinema Club in Europe generated a great expectation about what would be, in early 2011, the publication of his first LP. Mark intentionally coincidence also the name of it, "Palace" is the name of Club Chapel boys during their early performances, back in 2008.
Recorded with producer Paul Epworth (Florence and the Machine, Friendly Fires and The Rakes), the 11 songs of "Palace" of the shoegaze indeed drink of groups like My Bloody Valentine, Ride and Slowdive, but with that group about XXI century as Editors, The Boxer Rebellion or Interpol. The darkness and emotion
represented especially on songs like "After the Flood" or "Surfacing" hair come to that taste for religious imagery of singer Lewis Bowman. Just "Surfacing" has been chosen as the new single, the fourth extracted from what then was their first LP.
