Average Breast Size For Different Countries

The Eskimo Dream # 319, Thursday, May 5

From an old church sobs a disturbing sound, spacious, slow, worn harmonies in the forge of events, decorating the mantle low-tunes fall.

LOW
C'Mon

sub pop, 2011

The husband and wife team Alan Sparhawk and Mimi Parker, accompanied this time by a (another) new call bassist Steve Garrington, re-releasing an album almost four years after 'Drums And Guns', probably the most arid and complex album of his career. Since then things have happened as the pair wrote and performed music for a contemporary dance piece that Alan has published two albums of his project Retribution Gospel Choir and then walked on a tour that brought him here or Robert Plant, a living legend of rock, included two songs from 'The Great Destroyer' ( 'Monkey' and 'Silver Rider' ) in their recent album 'Band Of Joy'. Which, of course, has attracted the interest for a public Low so far outside the slowcore of the band from Duluth, Minnesota. With 'C'mon' ninth studio album of the group, seem to point medially height of his career and they have chosen to its producer is a guy who has worked almost exclusively with products like Ke $ ha, Katy Perry, Paris Hilton, Justin Bieber, Leona Lewis and Avril Lavigne.

Yes, this is the main wealth of Matt Beckley, son of Gerry Beckley (America). But it is also true that he had worked with considerable success in the second album from Retribution Gospel Choir, and in regard to production and the sound of 'C'mon', only applies to good things. And in this case how to handle the sound, by far the most clean and bright throughout the history of Low, it seems essential in this album. And in the same opening with the glowing 'Try To Sleep' warns of a more open, not so much in the composition in itself and in the purity with which each instrument and voice broadcasts. If 'Drums And Guns' was an exercise tight and suffocating, 'C'mon,' and since that game title that is repeated over and over again inside the digipack is the breath immediately following, essential to continue alive.

Low We recognize the usual, his melodies with classical features vocal harmonies of Mimi and Alan, but this time we are closer and more natural than ever, probably due to echoes and reverberation of a recording made in a church near his home studio (the same in which they recorded 'Trust'). Even in the songs more polished and arranged, as 'You See Everything' (which strongly resembles the big 'Secret Name'), manage to convey the feeling (prosecuted) to be playing live, something that contributes a striking presence piano (courtesy of Garrington) and the harshness with which sound guitars, overwhelming cuts as 'Witches' (that alone!), 'Done' , '$ 20' or 'Nothing But Heart' perhaps with 'Majesty / Magic' , the greatest jewel of the album, a piece that starts skeletal and which progressively wrapping on backing vocals, percussion and lap-steel and guitar of Nels Cline (Wilco) to chill.
also found common themes in the lyrics of Sparhawk: religious references ( 'Majesty / Magic' fits as Eucharistic hymn) existential doubt ( "Especially Me '), paranoia, hallucinations (server still does not understand the reference reach Al Green 'Witches' ) and the permanent shadow of death themselves or loved ones ( 'Done' , 'Try To Sleep' , 'Something's Turning Over' ). But throughout the album can feel the love as ideal, sublime in '$ 20' , a song that Alan himself has said he wants to sound at his funeral because it expresses what he would say to his wife and children as epitaph. Is it a plague? As in the case of the latest album from Mr. Chinarro (though each in his own thing), the latest album from these veterans is the most direct and accessible disk (rather than 'The Great Destroyer', yes) but no worse no less enjoyable. And ends with a kind of epiphany acoustic 'Something's Turning Over ', the happy-sounding singing along with her own children, a defeatist caramelito poisoned by a letter that invites young people to "get out while you can" , predicting a terrible future. There are things you probably never change.

Caravan CARAVAN

quemasucabeza, 2011

Back on the road with caravan Rodrigo Santis and his new plan after Paranormal and Barco, two projects solo which left a restless musical and emotional vision. Now the singer, guitarist and songwriter teaches Freezer other side, in the company of musicians Caravan brings to life, from the simplicity of the songs appear bright acoustic sound, border, intuitive, fortified in the calm and in lyrics that startle, as a beacon in the mist of time. Starting with the strange
warmth "Recognize" , the voice whispered de Santis is coming at us with inductive percussion and guitars that churn the autumn atmosphere, a curtain is discovered traces showing realism and meadows as " Subliminal Light "with choirs Gepe and Fernando Milagros, naturalness and beauty in a song less than 2 minutes to reach Florida as a prayer, deep cello sounds and Felicia Morales "La Entrega" , paused and testimonial Santis again displays the note honest in his lyrics, the ones that we took part in the history of Freezer (fundamental band for the independent scene Roblero Chilean Walter on bass and Jorge Santis on drums), eyes lowered and the rapture of complicity.
Each life is tied to learning, often in the fall, others in height, the final thing is that the prevailing changes in "Caravan" rather than maturation feel ratification, intimacy, flair and driving particularly in reaching deep inside unit as "Follow Your Eyes" with the voices Felicia Morales and Rodrigo Santis, the truth is that the collaborations on this record are remarkable, Peter Stone on bass, keyboards and Gretchen Schadebrodt piano, Gepe percussion, instrumentation carefully, organic atmospheres, sound vitalist "Every Time" a song felt intimate with that letter ... "Every time we hear records, talked about many things, every time I read a book, you say more, say more, tell me more ...".
No manuals, no guides, life simply feeling, experiencing, there was never another recipe, a caravan una procesión abierta, "despacio... caminos sobre sal ".

Estar bien.

CYCLO.
id

raster-noton, 2011

Pero estos elements, the summands are not as simple as a number, or if they are, at least we should note which are key variables. So that adding more Ikeda Carsten, what is not will always be a constant. Now it is time to know more about this project. Cyclo is an occasional duo with only one album released so far, "Cyclo" (Raster-Noton, 2001), whose first half is Japanese Ryoji Ikeda, artist focused on exploring the various possibilities of sound. His latest album for the German mark was "Test Pattern" (raster-noton, 2008). For its part, Carsten Nicolai is already known as insurance, Alva Noto, someone who does not need much introduction, at least on this site. In 1999 were presented for the first time together in Leipzig (Galerie für Kunst Zeitgenössische). Fruit that is born "Cyclo Cycle", a track credited to Ikeda + Noto and appeared on "New Forms" (Raster-Noton, 2000), hence the first disc.

been ten years and to finally have a new job, the sum of two artists uncertain sound. "Id" as "cyclo" is the exposure of an idea that has captivated Nicolai long, of the error. "We grow up in the situation that is not supposed to make mistakes. But then you see people researching and finding intelligence at the time that mistakes happen, and then you understand. Est developments always connected to errors, faults, unusual times ... For example, for collaboration with Ryoji Ikeda used the idea of \u200b\u200bexchanging file formats. And through sharing these files, produce sobertonos, and other strange things happen. In some ways we use it. " Failures, corrupted files created an album that, however, sounds more like a kind of electronic debugging a new century, an almost surgical cleanliness, but as we know, comes from something completely opposite. Around the exchange of data, which were not mastered in order to maintain the original, we return to a clean sound, built on glitches, oversights and other unexpected events that occur to move a figure from one place to another. Obviously, returning to the top, there are parts that are recognized in either artist, or 'sound designer', as credited in the album-the sound microscopy Ikeda, Nicolai robust patterns, but they add up to much than two. The seal of each is, but both give life to a new record, helped by the proximity of search and research of Japanese and German, an important fact in the case of the latter. His work alongside other people, be it Ryuichi Sakamoto, or Opiate, or Blixa Bargeld, or within Signal, highlighting both their jobs and lonely.

Music, or rather sounds emitted they end up being music, "id" is a play rough, rough, full of unexpected moments, digital noise laboratory. Electronic seems cold, but nothing is further from the truth. Perhaps the androids dream of electric sheep, and if you dream of making music as well, should be something like this. "Id", the sound of dirt particles collide.

HANNAH PEEL
The Broken Wave

static caravan, 2011

always a pleasure to hear a new voice, more especially if it refers to the past and nameless voices. Hannah Peel is almost newcomer. Self-released EP has just released another EP of versions of others (OMD, Cocteau Twins, Gloria Jones, New Order) and a single, "You Call This Your Home / Song For The Sea", all recent, last year's all. This last two appear low label Static Caravan, an English label always outside and always very successful where to direct their gaze. This time his eyes fell on this Irish. Fiddling with his father to compose his first songs, after "working on a play that song and I needed I had to sing. " So simple, so it seems. Continuing with

not showing in the single, which included issues of fact on the record, Hannah and a few musicians put together a disc that unites folk and pop and other music, with a touch, could not be otherwise , sounds Irish, the root is always stronger. Lizzie Jones's trumpet and drums Karl Penney's help, but it is she who does all the rest. But not everything. Is anybody else. "We worked together on a track and it was amazing the music we create in one day. Mike, immediately felt the nature of my songs: the lyrics and melody melancholy the not so traditional song structures. " That Mike is Mike Lindsay, the name after Tunng. Production Manager (and other stuff) Mike does what he has done so far with his band at all, one hundred percent acoustic album. The arrangements and production that do not exceed the songs, but serve to emphasize certain moments, to give more prominence to others. If at any stand out are the subtle sufiecientemente not to interfere. On his voice, if we consider that their bosses and their heroines are Sandy Denny, Joni Mitchell and Judee Sill, we know that it smells like a disc of more than forty years. At the same time his voice something we might call traditional, many voices, yet none in particular. Following modern references, sometimes is lost lately Hanne Hukkelberg, others to Françoiz Breut (if you remember), or an unknown singer of his native Yorkshire, and at various times Meg Baird (also remind you), but rung below the good fairy folk. Perhaps too many references, but you have certain genres such as addressing. Still, Hannah has enough personality to not be a singer more. That and its melodies as fragile as glass, ornaments, two of them care of Nitin Sawhney, "enough to not break that glass, and a voice about to break-eye, which seems a sorry record, but it is getting slower and melancholy. "The Parting Glass" builds with a music box (sad) and little else.

Since this is a disc that does not change the world, "The Broken Wave" gets in their way, shine in the panorama of new figures to consider in the future, and surprise with the first disc is a beauty. Although some gray tone in which it becomes, and because sadness can also be enjoyable will make the thirty-five-minute look better all around.

LUST FOR YOUTH
Solar Flare

avant! , 2011

Swedish experimental grouping formed by Hannes Eriksson Norrvide Amanda, known for their vinyl / split with Californians Blessure Grave, 2010 published by Release The Bats Records , this time the couple intensifies and purifies their sound for their first Lp-fledged, "Solar Flare" has been published by the Italian label Avant interesting!
Youth
conspirator.
